Yum. I’m a damn good cook! 🙂
Still sick, and getting really tired of it. But it’s an excuse to make oatmeal, and that I’m ok with.
On Wednesday I went to the farmers’ market and bought on a whim a giant tray of organic strawberries! I also got dandelions for the guinea pigs and potatoes, onion, green beans and garlic for me.
Oh, man, those potatoes were the best thing. Everyone was surprised by how delicious they were, and I’ll be buying more next week! I sauteed them with garlic, lemon pepper and garlic salt, along with the green beans and onion. Yum!
The rest of the day was spent working and eating oatmeal with strawberries. I prefer oatmeal with blueberries, but I didn’t just buy a vat of blueberries, did I?
I’m such a sucker for this park near my house, and one of my favorite things (I know, I have a lot of those…) is to go there for breakfast or lunch, sit outside with the people who have dogs, and then go for a walk around the park. On Sunday we skipped church and had a leisurely day outside.
Every time I go to the park I see something different. The landscaping and inhabitants seem to change in between my visits.
Interesting people come to this park — I’ve seen medieval style duels with wooden weapons, a clan of bagpipe players that frequent the amphitheater in the summer, people taking wedding photos or quinceanera photos, and this time, a group dressed in some sort of native American garb?, dancing and pounding drums. We could hear the drums from the other side of the park. I thought for sure it was the renaissance faire group. I was wrong.
These are some of the photos I took this last weekend on my cell phone:
Starting to look like spring!
What kind of bird is that? We saw a few of them around, but only in singles.
Pink petals flying through the breeze, landing on this pathway.
The trees where the airborne petals originated, and the background on my cell phone this week. I get impatient and change the backgrounds frequently.
If you look closely, you can see the lake.
Sitting inside at the restaurant. I didn’t even know that they had an inside section!
Chicken marsala for dinner is one of my favorite things. I love mushrooms and onions and pretty much everything else about this dinner. The recipe is from AllRecipes.com but we’ve tweaked it a little using flour and no cornstarch. Now we just mostly cook from feel and not by measuring out all the ingredients.
Last night I had a long awaited date night at my favorite restaurant, Lucca.
The food there is outstanding, and date night is a fun excuse for me to dress up!
We took a couple cheesy pictures in the parking lot, just for you!
This is chocolate creme brule. It is everything I dreamed it would be. The spoon is covering up the big bite I took before I thought to take a picture.
The restaurant, after the dinner rush died out. The couple next to us was clearly on a first date and opened the night with, ‘So, what do you do?’ We’re not sure they are destined to be, what with having absolutely nothing in common and him asking racist stereotype questions all night… but hey, maybe she dug it. Either way, we were both entertained eavesdropping on their date.
My outfit! A strapless dress and red, red lipstain.
